Disney-Meets-Dowdle

As the weather continues to warm up here in the Northeast, my puzzling has ironically been ramping up. I talked about this a bit in my last blog post. Usually, the winter months are a boon for my puzzling, but not this year. Happily, the puzzles I’ve been doing for this blog have been helping me get out of my winter puzzling doldrums and getting me closer closer toward fulfilling the old adage that a puzzle a day keeps the doc away...CONTINUE READING

National-Find-a-Rainbow-Day

I’m a total sucker for rainbows, gradients, and cutesy things. When I learned that there was actually a day dedicated to rainbows, I immediately jumped on learning all about it so I can use it as an excuse to puzzle all of my favorite kind of puzzles. Hence my blog topic for this month. Doesn’t it just scream such a cheery day? But, the thing that made this hard is that I have SOOOOO many puzzles that would technically fall into the “rainbow” category. It was a challenging job, but I managed to narrow down my list to just a handful...CONTINUE READING

National-Cherish-an-Antique-Day

Do you have collections—other than puzzles, that is? I admit I collect a few too many things, and so it’s no surprise that I also enjoy perusing antique stores. Even if I don’t buy anything, I enjoy looking at and appreciating people’s diverse collections. April 9th is National Cherish an Antique Day, so it only seemed appropriate to explore some antiques in puzzle form! ...CONTINUE READING

Gradient Puzzles Intimidate You?

What do you think of gradient puzzles? When I first started to notice them popping up, my first initial thought was, “but there’s no artwork.” Doing a puzzle without an image seemed like it would be boring but also difficult. Little did I know at the time, I would absolutely love them. Now this style of puzzle may not be for everyone. However, there’s something to be said of just doing a puzzle of pure color. Not only is it incredibly relaxing but it has helped me see variations in hues a lot easier for other elements of puzzling, such as a sunset sky, large bodies of water, or landscapes to a far-off horizon...CONTINUE READING

April Fool's Day

It’s April Fool’s Day! I’ll tell you about all the times I was fooled by a puzzle!

Puzzle Twist puzzles are designed to enhance the puzzle experience. The image is slightly different from the box, so there’s a surprise every time! I know some people really like to rely on the box image while solving, but I encourage everyone to think “outside the box” (pun intended) and try something new!...CONTINUE READING

All-In-The-Stars

I grew up in the 1970s.

There was a lot going on in those years, though much of it wasn’t something a schoolkid followed too closely. Here in the U.S. the news was about Vietnam, Richard Nixon, Civil Rights, and an energy crisis. To take our minds off politics we had TV shows like “Welcome Back, Kotter,” “The Love Boat,” “Three’s Company,” and many others that are still talked about today. At the movies there was “Jaws,” “The Godfather,” “Grease,” “Star Wars” and, one of my favorites, “Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.”...CONTINUE READING
